Teaching Reiki in California

I recently traveled to California to teach Reiki Level I and II classes to a small group at Evolve PT & Yoga Studio in Encinitas, California. What an amazing experience!

It was not only fun but a wonderful learning experience for me. This was a very open, highly intuitive group. They were very energetic and extremely enthusiastic the entire weekend. They participated in a way that was very profound. They interjected frequently asking really good questions and were very “present” in our group discussions.

What set this class apart from my other classes I’ve taught in the past, is that I taught Reiki Level I then Reiki Level II the very next day, which I have never done before. There was a highly noticable difference in the students from day one to day two. They shifted in a HUGE way from Level I to Level II. They came to class that second day calm, balanced, focused and all knowing in their work as Reiki Practitioners on the tables. I was extremely impressed with the their comments, their healing abilities, and their feedback in class with one another. They worked on me at the end of the second day and were spot on in their intuitive abilities with me and what was going on in my body.

I was also able to attune Somer (of Evolve PT & Yoga) to Teacher Class when I arrived allowing her to assist me. She did a remarkable job of holding safe space alongside of me for these folks to really shift and move forward in such an amazing way! The experience was so positive on every level and I look forward to teaching these folks Reiki Level III this summer along with Reiki Drumming.

Reiki Myths – 3 Common Misconceptions

Reiki Myths : Ann Bibbey BlogThere are a quite a few common misconceptions surrounding Reiki. These exist within the non-practitioner healer community as well as just the general public.

Here are a few of them debunked:

1. Reiki only works if you believe in it

Reiki will work regardless of whether you believe in it or not, as long as you do not resist the flow of treatment. It is often thought that Reiki is a sort of placebo effect, requiring the belief mechanism within our own mind to generate healing or energy changes. This is also not true.

2. Healers are using their own energy to heal the patient

A healer or Reiki practitioner is simply a channel through which the healing energy flows. The source of the energy is the Universe, the God, the Creator, or the Source (or whatever you may choose to call it). Once trained and attuned, practitioners are capable of channeling Reiki energy throughout the patient.

3. Jewelry and other metal objects can block the flow of Reiki

The myth that metal objects can block the flow of the Reiki energy is a very common one. Some believe that healers and patients should not wear jewelry, but Reiki has been experienced and proven to work and “pass through” not only metal objects placed close to the body, such as jewelry, but also through walls, through mountains, across oceans, even across the entire planet – distance healing sessions are a very common practice in Reiki.

These photos come from my recent workshop, “5 Powerful Tools To Manifest What You Desire” in Fort Collins, Colorado.

All of my workshops mix different pieces from the metaphysical realm, it’s not always about just one topic and and every workshop is different.  This workshop included Guided Meditations, Body Awareness, Vision Boards, Feng Shui, Masterminding, and more. Meditation is a part of each workshop, as it is very important for Self-Awareness.

You will always find a warm environment that includes discussion, meditation an interactive time to fully achieve desired results and enhance learning.

3 Ways to Overcome Feelings of Inadequacy

Overcome Feelings of Inadequacy : Ann Bibbey BlogIt’s easy to dwell on feelings of inadequacy in your life. You look at others who seem to have done it all right and are now leading the “perfect” life. Yet you feel you have made so many mistakes and done so many things wrong. You look at where you are today and yearn to change your regrets, knowing you never can. These are normal feelings, especially during times of change or conflict within yourself and your life. Remember, there is no “right” in life, so don’t let these feelings overshadow everything you have done that has made you into who you are today.

1. We are all different

Your life’s path is far different than your neighbors, or your friend’s, or your co-worker’s. But the path you have chosen to define you only makes you stronger. It’s important to realize the paths others have chosen may not have been the path you would have chose, even knowing what you know now. Looking at pretty pictures of loving families, or hearing stories about successful careers, or watching a happy couple after you have just lost a spouse can make you feel inadequate and even resentful, but it’s important to remember that so many parts of other’s lives do not fit into your mold. You are different. And your differences define YOU and THEM. Embrace these differences, for they are a part who you are today.

2. Cherish what you have

It’s easy for people to tell you to do this, but much harder when you face regret. Your road, no matter how rocky it may be, has given you gifts you often overlook. Don’t ever overlook these gifts or feel inadequate for how they came about. Pause and reflect; feel these gifts. They belong to you and you are fortunate they are yours, for had you chosen a different path, you may not have them today.

3. Embrace the moment

The past may have brought many sorrows, but today is once in a lifetime. And the future is still an unknown. Always know that no matter what regrets you have haunting you today from your past, you will always hold today and tomorrow in your hands. Be grateful for your life, for your laughter, for today. When your feelings shift towards the “shoulda, coulda, woulda’s” of your past, guide your mind back to the now – and feel it. Be thankful for today – for today will not be here tomorrow.

5 Ways to Feel Better through “Feeling”

5 Ways to Feel Better Through Feeling : Ann Bibbey BlogAbrupt change in life can bring on what may feel like an unwanted monster of emotion, uninvited and unwelcome, but relentless all the same. The ups and downs make it difficult to function. The intense feelings that sneak up when least expected can cause anxiety and panic.  And as this roller coaster takes over life day in and day out, eventually it can lead to depression, a numbing of the spirit, and far reaching effects into our personal and professional lives.

During any time of abrupt change – whether due to the ending of a relationship, the death of a loved one or pet, loss of a job, or a big life altering change – we face a period where we feel the weight of the world is crashing down on us. Until you reach the day that you can choose to be happy, simply start by feeling better today.

1. Feel your emotions No matter what it was in your life that caused your abrupt change you will have feelings triggered by thoughts and memories. When you feel overwhelmed by emotion, stop for a minute, close your eyes, and just feel it. Don’t try to push it away or pretend it’s not there – take a few moments and embrace it. Concentrate on the emotion – where do you feel it physically? Let yourself feel everything about it to the point you can touch it, taste it. If it’s a good memory that triggered it, let yourself feel good and even smile if you want to. If it makes you feel angry, let yourself feel angry. And if you feel sadness, let yourself feel the sadness. After a few minutes and when the sensations are beginning to ease, in your mind’s eye, envision yourself walking up to your body and scooping the emotion out of you and toss it above your head giving it to the Universe. Emotions won’t go away overnight, and sometimes taking a moment to embrace them is the best way to minimize them for the rest of the day.

2. Feel the world Make yourself feel the physical things in life. Step outside and feel the warm sun on your shoulders. Or the rain. Or the wind. Unroll your car window while you’re on the interstate. Pet a cat. Concentrate on what the physical sensation feels like. Think about it, put it into words, and speak aloud even if just to yourself. When going through any traumatic experience, our emotions dominate our senses. By shifting your mind from inside your head to outside your body, you awaken the other senses and if only for a minute, you quiet the mind.

3. Create something If you’ve ever had a hobby, now’s the time to pull it out and make something beautiful – or at least start (don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t able to finish). Make a piece of jewelry, or sew a new bag. Plant some flowers, work on that old scrapbook, or make a nice meal. Delving into a hobby can distract your mind and busy your hands. Taking some time to feel physical items and creating something from nothing not only eases emotion, but it can bring you back to a place of feeling like you again.

4. Feel for another If you have friends or family members in your life who are going through a difficult time or are facing trying situations, talk to them – and talk to them about their problems. Listen to what they have to say, try to feel what they are feeling, offer advice or comforting words. Setting out to help another can be one of the best ways to help yourself. But at the same time, be careful not to overwhelm yourself with another’s problems when dealing with your own, find balance and always take care of yourself first.

5. Exercise Not only does exercise release endorphins in the brain, it’s physically exhausting. And if you want to “feel” something, working your butt off at the gym, going for a strenuous hike, or taking a long walk can make you physically “feel” like nothing else can. Just don’t push yourself too hard. And make sure you are adequately nourishing your body with food and water to sustain physical exertion.

No matter what, always remember that today is only today and tomorrow is only tomorrow. With time, pain and negative emotions subside, and when you’re ready – choose to be happy today.

Listen to the Answers Inside of You

Listen to the Answers Inside of You : Ann Bibbey BlogThe answers to your questions are INSIDE of you!

The way in which to “hear” them is to BE in STILLNESS. Open your heart and mind, and LISTEN to your gut (that subtle, soft inner “knowingness”). Then TRUST it, trust yourself, and trust the process of the Universe!

Finally SURRENDER and allow the mystery of “how” it all unfolds to come before you.

Be PATIENT & I promise your answers will undoubtedly show up!!!

Patterns

Flower of Life : Ann Bibbey BlogPATTERNS, PATTERNS, PATTERNS!

They are elusive and tricky and they “show up” at any given time. If you want to change the OUTCOME of something in your life, then change something in the formula of it.

Change your reaction, change your attitude, change your thoughts, change your mind, etc. But change SOMETHING…because if you keep doing the same thing over and over you’ll get the same result!

Then give it time and patience for the Universe to recognize the CHANGE and you’ll see that what you put out there is returned. You know the old saying of what goes around comes around? It’s true, so try it!
